Okay, so Phil saw his shadow. Six more weeks? Seriously? While we appreciate the groundhog's enthusiasm, we're not about to hibernate until Spring. We know most of us live pretty active lives; between school for the kiddos, now back to regular schedule until Spring Break, socializing with friends and family, full time jobs, social media, all the things! We get it. So instead, we're embracing the cozy and diving headfirst into Gig Harbor's treasure trove of holistic wellness spots so that you too can get that much needed rejuvenation whenever possible. Because let's be real, self-care isn't a luxury, it's a survival skill when the PNW skies are perpetually gray for months.

Let's start with the steamy stuff. Nothing says "winter who?" like a good sweat session. Before we purchased our own sauna, Monarch Massage & Spa was my go to place for infrared sauna, being so close to my office it was a no brainer. Gig Harbor has some fantastic options to get your circulation pumping and a much needed “Ahh..” moment.

The penetrating warmth of an infrared sauna can help elevate your mood by stimulating endorphin release, providing a natural boost during those gray, low-sunlight days. Bonus points if they have those eucalyptus oils that make you feel like you're in a fancy hotel somewhere overseas.

Winter's the perfect time to reconnect with your body and mind.

  • Yoga/Pilates Studios: Gig Harbor boasts some amazing studios offering everything from hot yoga to gentle Pilates. Find your tribe, stretch out those winter kinks, and maybe even discover muscles you didn't know existed. The sound of the waves and the beauty of the scenery are instant mood boosters. Trust me, even five minutes of mindful breathing can make a world of difference.
